Tomorrow is Take Your Dog to Work Day

Posted by Lisa Chan

on June 25th, 2009

Though I must say, that virtually every day at Zynga, is Take Your Dog to Work Day. As you might have read in previous posts, Zynga loves dogs (the company was named after Mark’s dog, Zinga, who passed away in January), and we always have many of our best friends visiting on any given day.

We’ve been helping the SF/SPCA raise money through our YoVille game - buy a $5 bulldog or tabby cat in the game and proceeds go to the SPCA. In just about 6 weeks, our YoVille game raised $40,000 for them!

The SPCA just put out their newsletter and Zynga is featured as one of their dog-friendly workplaces. Check it out here.

Tomorrow should be interesting - I’m personally planning on bringing in the pugs. Oh my….

Zynga Set to Grow with FarmVille

Zynga Expands Their Catalog with a Free-to-Play Social Farm Game

SAN FRANCISCO – June 23, 2009 – Zynga (www.zynga.com), the largest developer of social games, announced the launch of a new farm simulation game, FarmVille, which will allow players to build and grow the farm of their dreams, with the help of their friends.

With this exciting new offering, Zynga brings its leading social game design to the broadest mix of Facebook users yet. FarmVille allows players to build and customize their farm from the very beginnings, plowing the land, and choosing what they want to grow from a large variety of crops such as strawberries, eggplant, wheat and soybeans. The farm is then theirs to cultivate how they choose. Players will also have options to purchase farm animals such as pigs and cows, and compliment your crops with other farm assets such as barns, windmills and greenhouses.

Nurturing the farm is the key to success for players and their network of fellow farmer friends: those who tend their crops diligently will see their farms flourish and their bank accounts swell. Players’ friends are a key element of success in FarmVille.

“We’re really excited about FarmVille. The farm category in social gaming has shown amazing growth over the past couple years, especially in Asia,” said Mark Pincus, CEO and founder of Zynga. “There is something universally appealing about farming which speaks to large, diverse audiences. FarmVille will take what players love about the farm genre, and add a mixture of new and delightful features and design elements that have been so successful for us in our previous games.”

Mike Sugerman from CBS 5 (KPIX) visits Zynga

Posted by Lisa Chan

on June 22nd, 2009

Last week, we were thrilled to host Mike Sugerman, CBS’s feature reporter, at our offices. He’s been looking for more “silver-lining” economy stories and said it’s been tough and challenging. After stumbling across Zynga, he was simply amazed at how fast we’re growing and the amount of success we’ve experienced in such a short amount of time (two years). Honestly, it’s surpassed our expectations, but we’re definitely happy and excited about this next phase of social networking.

Anyway, it was so much fun hosting Mike and Frank (the guy behind the camera). Come back anytime guys!

Check out the clip here. Oh, and yes, we’re hiring. Know anyone? Send your resume to jobs@zynga.com.
